Great photos again and a beautiful location - I hope to go there myself one day.

Any signs of surfacing (not sure if that's the right word) at the towers? Where they covered with bricks or stone or just rammed earth?

_All_ towers where covered with bricks. We have a mixture of Qin and Ming design (both walls run at the same location here). The "inline" towers on the wall and the round towers (or squarish for Qin) are on slightly higher elevation but have all had brick coverage.

Thank you for clarify that. I've been wondering about that for some time.

Zhangjiakou seems to be as interesting a place as I had imagined!

Was this section of the Great Wall rebuilt? It looks that way. Can you provide the location for this photo?

Thank you for sharing these wonderful pictures.

I agree. It would be easy to spent a hole holiday in that area to explore all parts of the walls. I didn't even reach the Qin/Ming junction but by now I am prepared where and how to find and how to get close. It will stay on my list and the next time I have to spent time around Beijing I will return.

Yes, it is rebuild. I did not take any Badaling-style photos. The location is 40°50'40.22"N 114°53'9.08"E, the name is Dajingmen.
