Smile Our trip to China

My special interests school group is going to China this summer. We won a contest on a presentation that was about Chinese architecture. We used the Great Wall for examples on the variety and styles of old Chinese architecture. Our trip is planned for May 31st to June 8th of 2008. Seven girls including me are going along with one teacher. This is the first time that any of us have been on long trips. We are all really excited to be going.

Smile

Hi, Sophie,

I am so excited for you because you will climb up the Great Wall and become a real heroine. In China, there is a saying: a person isn't a hero until he/she reaches the Great Wall. And I am also very happy, especially your group chose the Jinshanling - Simatai route. You will see one part of the original Great Wall. This route is pretty different from Badaling or Juyongguan or Mutianyu. I hope you will have time to visit one of these places, too.

So enjoy your trip.

With best wishes & regards

Lingyu

Thank you Lingyu. All of us are really excited too. We will visit one of the other places you listed, if the weather is good during our trip. I am sure when we return we will tell all of you about the trip and show some pictures to you.

Talking Getting close

Just two more weeks until we leave! One of my classmates has been sick and she is not sure if she will be able to go. We are all hoping she will be okay.

Hi, I hope now your classmate is okay, and also am very happy for you, because you have waited for a long time for the trip. Welcome you to China. Meanwhile, I hope you will be careful when you walk on the Great Wall, because some places are pretty rough and slippy.

Bon Voyage.

不到长城非好汉。(bu(4)dao(4)chang(2)cheng(2)fei(1)hao(3)ha n(4). Right?

It is a sentence by Mao zedong. It was supposed to motivate the participants of the Long March to reach the very north. Most of them (about 90%) did not survive ...
