At the Great Wall Museum in Shanhaiguan this pass is called Sieryuguan (寺儿峪关) so that might be more correct.

Have you ever seen any additional references to Sieryuguan other than at that museum?

No. My Qinhuangdao books does not mention this section at all.

The museum book also call this pass Sieryuguan, however the text for a picture showing one of the watchtowers a bit to the east call this area Hengling. On another page it is called Wudaolou (五道楼)

Maybe this is another case of an old and new name for the same place — like Qiliankou / Lianhuachi.

I think I came up with the name originally because the nearby village is called Wangjiayu, so Wangjiayu should not be considered more correct than anything else.

So far I consider Sieryuguan to be correct.

Is Wudaolou just a reference to the five towers in this short section, and not the name

For hiking purpose , asking local people by name of Wangjiayu will be treat friendly . For studing GW purpose, saying Siergu will get more respect.

Both 谷 and 峪 can mean valley, so it might have changed from 寺儿谷 to 寺儿峪.

The book mention ten passes between Laolongtou and Jiumenkou:
  1. Nanhaikouguan
  2. Nanshuiguan
  3. Shanhaiguan
  4. Beishuiguan
  5. Hanmenguan
  6. Jiaoshanguan
  7. Sandaoguan
  8. Lanshuiguan (Lanshiguan)
  9. Si'eryuguan
  10. Yipianshiguan (Jiumenkou)

Only Lanshuiguan (Lanshiguan) wasn't mentioned in book of Sizhensanguan .
