Tower 1 Qingshankouguan photos

From yesterdays failed attempt to find a possible road to the Taolinkou area.

First attempt failed because a marked totally blocked the road, and the second attempt failed because I didn't want to destroy my car on the rocky road - luckily I ended up here instead: 40° 8'44.36"N 119°11'55.13"E (note how the wall split in two here).

After some investigation I think this section should be called:

Chinese name: 竭家沟

Pinyin: jié jiā gōu

English: Make big effort for the family gulley
jié: make the utmost effort
jiā: home/house/family
gōu: gulley

Location: 40° 8'29.09"N 119°11'43.17"E

Two questions:

- the first photo shows the "inner" (southern) side?
- the base seems to be made of bid dry stones. Very different from the locations I know, where those are made of highly crafted ashlars. Is this typical for the location or even for the building period?

I whished my photographic scills where as high as yours.

The first photo show the outer northern side.

Normally the base is constructed using sandstone ashlars. I think only a few places have this kind of roughly cut natural rock. Part of the wall is made of the same kind of material.

Only part of the wall is made of brick, mainly here: 40° 8'45.18"N 119°11'56.77"E, but it seems only the outer wall was brick while the inner part was stone.
