Indeed a place I need to go one day

I do not believe there is any multiple walls in this area (except for the loops). This kind of walls are scattered all over the area very close to each other and does not seem to be related to the Great Wall - it is simply a coincident that they are very close to the Great Wall shown in the picture.

Numerous examples can be seen in this area: 40°11'26.21"N 118°45'53.18"E and 40°10'20.52"N 118°48'11.87"E and 40°10'32.02"N 118°47'46.85"E.

I believe these low walls are build by local farmers to protect the farmlands below the mountains - probably from water or mudslide.

Looking at my pictures I remember that there are some extra walls at Baiyangyu.

Please see my post here: http://greatwall.se/blog/?p=65

The multiple walls andarchen showed might be something like these (see the above link for a description):

The Great Wall of China

The ones in andarchen post seems to be a bit wider so it would be necessary to have a look in the surrounding area to determine if this is in fact Great Wall related.

Marvelous ! No doubt , your answer on multiple walls was absolute right ! . the multwalls at pass were built by recent farmers to prevent water . I posted same puzzle in Chinese Great Wall forum yesterday, let us see whether they get same solution or not . Their web server was being out of service since last night ,that is reason why linked photos are invisible either. Thanks Bryan to post them for me too .
