Photos! Inscription on stone stele

Is anyone able to read the text on this stone stele found today on the Great Wall in Liaoning? Compared to the size of the stele there is not much text on it.



I was only able to find one base for a stele, but that was a bit far away from the stele itself so maybe they don't belong together.

No problem to me for characters in red&green ,they are title of carving -stone and slurry respectively ,Chinese:石匠&泥水匠.Three out of five charachters in blue were (XXX百户),百户 means grade of Ming officer , as for the other three charachters above 百户 had being posted in chinese forum to ask help.

Due to all other characters without color are names, i didn't ask them to recognize.

Maybe I should bring Bryan and Chinoook there next week to try and turn it over to have a look on the other side

Besides turn it over, you can put the remote base together, it will be great if this tablet can insert into the hole in base .

The base is down the valley close to the road while the stele is on the wall, so that would require dragging the base up the mountain, over the mountain top and down to the stele - it would take much more than three people to do that

How come they separted so far? i doubt they had been togather before now.
BTW,only one guy in chinese forum answered your question after whole day post ,i agreed the first character ( 匠 ) he guessed only ,so there are two characters of "匠??百户" still is unknown.

I agree it seems a bit strange but not unlikely at all. If we decide to go there, I will try to measure it to see if the hole match the stele.

Notice how a corner of the foot is missing on the stele, corresponding almost perfect to an area without any mortar in the hole of the base. Of cause it might be a coincidence - or maybe not.

Could the third one be 委 ?

With your adding detail photos , i thought they might be togather before ,i shall post photos of base you found to chinese forum .
