Default Liaoning Great Wall

In the weekend I began my quest to explore the Great Wall in Liaoning.

I selected this area from Google Earth: 40°15'34.48"N 119°59'12.73"E. The local people confirmed that this is an old part of the Great Wall and told me there should be a path leading to the wall. Unfortunately I was not able to find the path - mainly because of fields covered with 2 meter high crops (corn) so it was very difficult to judge where to go and the weather also began to turn bad.

The Great Wall of China

It seems large parts of the GW in this area have disappeared since the Google Earth picture was taken, since I was unable to locate any GW close to the road - but this might have been hidden by the crops.

I will return later in another time of year to try to find the way up.

Earlier that day I visited the old fortified city of Qiansuo (40° 5'35.38"N 119°56'45.39"E). Please see my Panoramio account to see the pictures from there:

Very nice to read from you again.
At least you could veryfy the Liaoning GW. It seems to have a becon tower close to the place you went. There should be much more to see in winter.
Your photos from Qiansuo are marvellous. The site has not been reconstructed at all?

This is probably a beacon tower (40°15'32.65"N 119°59'15.62"E) but very difficult to see because it's covered with grass this time of year.

This (40°15'50.12"N 119°58'49.29"E) is a natural rock but since the wall is located very close to it (see the photo from the earlier post) I wonder if this rock was used as a kind of tower. I will be interesting to go up there to have a look a see it there's any evidence of that.

The gates of Qiansuo seems to have been restored in recent years but the rest of the city wall seems to be original.
