I have had a couple of GE crashes and every time it's the fault of the video display driver. It's maddening if you have been working for a while. In fact I back up my work occasionally if working extensively in GE (or anything else for that matter).Quote:

![]() I found the pin for the Shentangyu fortress (Ming Dynasty Great Wall/Fortresses/Beijing/Shentangyu/Shentangyu fortress) is the wrong style. It's a big yellow pin and it should be a small (0.5) green pin to match the other fortresses.

The Mapquest paths (yellow) have been very helpful in finding the Great Wall. But I think that in places where we have found the Great Wall, they are no longer needed since our paths (red) are much more accurate. Therefore, I feel that in places where our paths are obviously more accurate than the Mapquest paths, the Mapquest paths should be deleted. This screen shot from Huairou illustrates.
I volunteer to delete the superfluous Mapquest paths if you guys agree it's a good idea. ![]()

Same with the RMM where it is not needed any longer.
Long ago (about two months ;-)) I thougt about a Ming main line map by using at any location the best available line. Which could be GE HR data (1. grade, 2. GE LR data, where the wall is visible (rare) 3. paths of people who can deliver information about how close they walked along the wall ("Chinoooks walk", still unfinished), 4. RMM, 5. Mapquest, 6. overlays from books, maps, ..., 7. other. This would result in the best (for us) available path. But it is a lot of work. At the moment I am busy at different building sites. -chinoook |

I will start deleting (and shortening if necessary) the unneeded Mapquest paths. I agree that the same thing would be useful for the RMM paths, but I want to do the Mapquest paths first since they're being distributed with the release map. When I finish with Mapquest, I can start with RMM. I won't need the main file for this work; I will just work in the Mapquest and RMM folders. These folders can be placed in the main map later when it's available.

I'm finding that the "Move to Hebei" items are missing from the 20080726 map. Were these items added and then later lost, or were they never added? I felt sure that they had made their way into the main map but they're definitely missing now.
