Default GW map in Chinese released from begining.

Two major changes compared to the last release were :

1. Adding new pass and ancient name for existing pass. The ancient name
of pass is base on ancient book named Sizhensanguan (English: Geography
and administration on Ming dynasty .Chinese:四镇三关志),this ancient
book were written on 500 year ago during late Ming , one of page on Shanhaiguan in book of Sizhensanguan shows as following picture , characters on right in page is pass name and its description in brief, and drawing on left in page is the geography on pass.

2. Adding pass related photos , all photos link to chinese GW forum.

Two districts in Heibei east had been completed as attached kmz files, welcome to download , and your comments is highly appreciated.

This is incredible work!

Some questions:
  1. Where did you get access to the quoted book? Is there any internet ressource?
  2. How much time did this work take?
  3. Is the Ming text totally readable to today readers?
  4. How did you get the locations of all the items where there is nothing to see on GE (bad imagery, totally detoriated item)?
  5. You show a line of towers south of the "main line". Is there any wall supposed to be (around 40° 2'15.33"N 119°26'19.09"E)?
Would you mind (in order to help 笨老外) if I find someone who could add pinyin in the commentary field?
What do you think about adding there also today's names if they are known and different?
I rather would like to add those things to your map than to have two or more concurrent versions.

This map will also be incredible helpful for our East Hebei Trek 2010. We can and will check most of the items you showed and can and will deliver photos for any of those which we can approach.

I recognise some of my photos, so not all from the Chinese forum

Great work compiling this map and a good idea to link to photos - I might consider to do something similar.

A small correction. This photo (40° 8'39.46"N 119°31'16.08"E) should be moved to here: 40° 8'33.10"N 119°31'11.31"E.

There is no visible wall north of the river except a big vertical mountain with a watch tower on the top.

Using google map to find the name of village nearby pass , once the village was found , upward to GW along the valley where village locates , the place cross to GW ought to be the location where the pass locates i supposed .

All towers are isolated , they should be Huoludun (火路墩) for passing signal from main GW,no wall connect them , Kim had provided the map of those isolated towers in this forum .
