Thumbs up I like Juyongguan

In 2005, I visited many parts of the Great Wall near BeiJing. One of my favorites was Juyongguan. I liked it because of the structures and the lake separating western and eastern parts. The structures are very classical. They reminded me of China's great culture and very long history. People will find the place very steep and you might get a little bit dizzy when you climb to the top!

Default Hiking the Great Wall at Juyongguan

One nice thing about Juyongguan is, the wall describes a big circle. The parking area and entrance divide the circle roughly in half. This provides good opportunities for hiking and returning to the starting point without having to double back. If you're in relatively good condition, you can follow the whole circuit. Even if you take your time, you can complete it within about 4 or 5 hours. If you find you are tired after halfway, you can stop there.
