Default Zimutai

Driving north towards Huangtulingguan I made a short stop in Jiumenkou to photograph Zimutai (子母台). Zimutai means Mother and Son Platform, and when looking at it, it is not hard to understand why. According to my Funing County book this is a one of a kind tower.

The tower is here: 40° 7'9.76"N 119°44'8.61"E

The tower has been partly repaired, but very true to the original and only to preserve the tower.

Thumbs up Re: Zimutai

Great to see this type of repair job being done. Thanks for sharing these interesting photos! Too bad people find it necessary to paint on it.

When the GW is immersed with the nature planet (especially on the top), it looks not bad landscape.

Local residents use to call this tower as "Mother and Son Platform" or "Generals assignment Platform"(Chinese : Dianjiangtai 点将台).I thought the "Mother and Son Platform" highlights its construction and "Generals assignment Platform" highlights its function .
It's construction was a combination of big circle tower and small half-circle tower , so it was called "Mother and Son Platform".
Because of there is a large space in front of tower , the top officer usually gathered troops here before battle , and stands above tower to carry out generals job assignment.

Kim,

you showed such an enormous amount of new and fascinating items recently. I am sorry to be out somewhere in China right now and not to be able to comment in the way I would like to. After my return to Germany at the end of July I will have to look at GE and my working set and might have questions left. At the moment I am about to leave north China and the GW ...
