Chinese: 金山宾馆
Pinyin: Jīn shān bīng guǎn English: Jinshan hotel Telephone: 86-10-8402-4628 Jinshanling has three different hotel complexes all in the same area. I have stayed at all three of them. As you enter the Jinshanling Great Wall, they are beyond the parking area, on the right side of the road, just past the restaurant and before you reach the ticket gate. ![]() Main entrance to hotels ![]() Entrance to apartment suites First are the standard rooms with courtyards. Hello,
I just read your wonderful description of different parts of Great Wall-could you please tell me one thing? When being on Jinshanglin - did you notice there a watchtower in which the accomodation is supposed to be provided? I have found a man who is supposed to provide this accomodation directly on the Great Wall, but since almost nobody is mentioning that I am a little bit afraid. Thanks a lot for your reply in advance, have a good day and many good trips - Jana |

At times accommodation has been offered at the warehouse tower, kufanglou. You will notice to the left of the tower in this picture is the "warehouse" which has been used for many other purposes including stores and restaurants. Zhou Wanping once used this structure. I am not sure what the situation is now. When I have been there in the daytime, it looked like just a restaurant or a souvenir store. And when I have been there in the nighttime, it was closed up tight and nobody was there. ![]() I'm sorry I don't have more details on this. Maybe one of our Chinese members can find the details or you might want to call the hotel or ask someone who can speak Chinese to call the hotel and ask. Or maybe you can tell us more about the man you have found.

"For those sleeping on the wall we provide sleeping bags, mats, pillows and shelter in a watchtower, a tent or you may sleep on the wall under the stars. Your guide stays with you on the wall overnight. " I believe they can make it ,and sure you will not sleep alone , just call the contact person Mr. Sun.

Hello,
I know what they write in the link - I just wanted to make sure with someone who knows Great Wall well and who could provide me with additional information if such a service is possible. The best thing would be if someone had personal experience... ![]() There is also another matter - we are travelling to the Great Wall at the beginning of April, so I guess it might be pretty cold in there over night. What is your experience? I am not a greenhouse plant, but on the other hand would not like to freeze to dead, even if it happened on the Great Wall.

Sun Hai Long's Website is www.sleeponthegreatwall.com.
Fauster stayed overnight in a tent at Jinshanling last year. Read his description here (photo here). Yes, it can truly be cold and windy as well on the Great Wall at Jinshanling. I was once there at the end of April and while the weather was not quite freezing temperatures at night, it was nearly. And with the wind on the mountain ridges it felt quite cold. Maybe you should consider the Jinshanling hotels.
