The original early Ming wall is further south and continues all the way to North Korea. The wall between Zhuizishan and Jinniudong was then added later for extra defense. Earlier there was a water gate here (should be something like Jiumenkou) but it is long gone. |

![]() I shall remember to post more pictures after my next visit. I guess the road being repaired should be open again when I return from summer holiday, and then I might try again

After two months in Denmark it was nice to get on with the list. Next location on the list was Jinniudong.
The wall here is really massive. I estimate it to about 5 meters high and 6 meters wide. Finding of bricks on the top suggest that the parapet was made of brick, but apart from a few remaining bricks this is long gone. ![]() Jinniudong with the double wall in the background. ![]() The double wall of Jinniudong. ![]() The outside parapet - the inside parapet is not well preserved. ![]() The end of the northern Liaoning (Ming) Great Wall. ![]() The top of Jinniudong. ![]() The small cave that gave name to this section - Golden Ox Cave ![]() View down from the top of Jinniudong. This is the eastern end of this short late Ming Great Wall section in Liaoning.

I probably go to these places because most other people go to Beijing and other famous spots. I find it much more interesting to find locations that not many tourist go to and thus not many photos are available. |
