Hi,

First of all, i would like to thank greatwallforum for his great review. However, since this is my first time to jiankou, can i ask a few questions?

1) I am getting straight to JianKou from beijing airport so i believe i have to go to huairou first, then from there, i will have to ask the locals on how to take a bus to xizhazi village?

2) I wish to visit Zhengbeilou and Jiuyanlou. however, how do i get to zhengbeilou from xizhazi village? is it via this link:

i believe the link is talking about how to go to Zhengbeilou from the south but i am from the north (xizhazi village),
or do i have to depend on the locals to ask for direction or is the path pretty straightforward? I only know that Zhengbeilou is on the east.

3) I have totally no idea how to get to jiuyanlou, i only know it is on the west. Do i have to depend on the locals?

4) Is there a need to worry about the accomodation? Is the recommended Zhao's hostel easy to find in the entire village?

That is a good plan. The bus station is at 40°18'55"N 116°38'28"E.

The thread shows how to reach Zhengbeilou from both the north (Xizhazi) and the south. Here is the path from Zhao's Hostel to Zhengbeilou:

Download the Beijing Great Wall map. It shows all of the Jiankou features including the walking trails. View the map in Google Earth. If you have a GPS, transfer the tracks to it and you can find Jiuyanlou that way. If you don't have a GPS, you might want to ask someone to take you to Jiuyanlou if you want to take the shortest path. The people at Zhao's can take you there or help you find someone to take you. If you want to follow the Great Wall to Jiuyanlou, and you're comfortable hiking in remote places, you could probably get there by yourself without a GPS.

The hostel is located at 40°27'54.3"N 116°30'43.6"E. Look at it in Google Earth and look at the photo and you should be able to find it once you arrive.
