Thumbs up Zhao’s hostel at Xizhazi village

Zhao Sanbu
Location: Xizhazi group 5
Coordinates: 40°27'54.3"N 116°30'43.6"E
Telephone number: 6161-1762
Website: www.jkwall.com
E-mail: unavailable

I stayed here in 2008 and was totally satisfied. The rooms are good, the food is excellent, the dogs are great, and the people are very friendly, honest, and likable, and the prices are fair. I hope to return to Xizhazi some day, and when I do, I will surely stay here again.

Reservations are not required. In the remote chance that they are full, they will gladly take you to another nearby guest house.

They can also provide guide services.

Mr. Zhao himself, a very funny and friendly guy

The rooms at the hostel are named after places on the Jiankou Great Wall.

Each room features excellent photos of the Jiankou Great Wall. Here are a few examples.

I think it was about 100 RMB per night. My memory is not the best memory in the world. But it was reasonable, both food and rooms.

I also can confirm you that even now in 2011 , this is a nice place to stay. still cheap, and the atmosphere is so friendly. from there last october, at 3 am, we climb to the wall about 3/4 hour, to see the sun rise. It's great over there. You can go even with blind eyes...

I was just at Zhao's this past weekend. Great people! The daughter ended up leading us to the wall to camp (I'd had no time to do research before going, had a very very busy week). We camped on the wall (more on that later) and ended up eating lunch the next day at Zhao's. Mrs. Zhao is a super hard worker and I really liked her. I am looking forward to staying here with the family in the future.
