Very nice pictures, thank you for sharing them

Did you do any hiking there? It seems like a very dangerous area.

I hiked / climbed from Zhengbeilou to Niujiaobian. It was not too bad although there were a few scary parts. I also hiked in the opposite direction from Zhengbeilou towards Jiankou, but seeing the steep downhill incline after that, I turned back in fear!

What about hiking up from Tianti towards Zhengbeilou, how is this hike?

It's fine until you get to the Sky Stairs, at about 40°27'23"N 116°31'40.3"E, then it's suicidal.

The Great Wall of China

The area between Jiankou and Zhengbeilou is some of the most dangerous on the entire Great Wall, as you saw here.

好家火!Wow! Those walls are white, I have an elementary question. Why are some sections of the Wall white and other not? Is the foundation wall made from a different stone or was it painted? I read the Great Wall by John Mann and he never clarified this.

I think the white is granite.

The wall is mainly constructed by using materials that can be found locally, and for that reason the colour of the wall might change from location to location. In some areas in Hebei the wall is made almost entirely of white stones and called "The Marble Great Wall".
