Default Wooden beam construction

Several watch towers at Huangtulingguan is of a wooden beam type. The most common brick tower is probably where the roof is supported by a brick structure inside the tower, but in some towers the roof is supported by wooden beams. At Jiumenkou a restored tower of this kind can be seen.

At Huangtulingguan it is possible to see where the wooden beams were installed, and some places there is even some wood left that might very well be remnants of the original beam.

I have seen some of those "empty" beams at Jinshanling yesterday. There are some beacon towers which had a wooden structure inside. Unfortunately I did not take a picture, I did not recognise what it was. I maybe was to much escaping the pack ...
Maybe the next visitor to the Jinshangling area could take pictures of those for us.

Interesting to see the wooden window frame. Is that normal at Jinshanling?

Does anyone have any drawing that show how the door and window was installed and functioned in at watch tower?

Many of them, but not all, have some wood door and window frames, and some have evidence of having once had floor-to-ceiling posts.

Thanks, I remember that drawing very well. What I would like to see is how the door looked - I've never seen that anywhere.
