Photos! Huanghuacheng before and after repair

The Huanghuacheng Great Wall was repaired in 2005. Here is a before and after photo looking northwest from the area of 40°24'52"N 116°19'54"E.

It looks a lot better in the before image, though even after repair, it is one of my fave walls to visit

it doesn't look like they repaired it so much as just cleared the plants off it. ultimately, if they don't remove the plants, the roots will destroy the wall. i don't think rebuilding it to something it never was is a good idea, but preserving it so it doesn't decay more is good.
i envy those of you that are near it, or can afford to visit the wall regularly.

Some roots seem not to be clean completely, plants on wall grew up again.

well if you are hiking on the wall, it would not be a bad thing to pull or cut any plants as long as you don't dislodge any bricks or mortar.
