Thumbs up Gubeikou Emperor's Palace Hotel

Traditional Chinese: 萬壽行宮
Simplified Chinese: 万寿行宮
Pinyin: Wàn shòu xíng gōng
English: Emperor’s palace
Location: Gubeikou Wohushan Great Wall
GPS coordinates: 40°41'17"N 117°9'7"E
Telephone: 010-81051166 021-56190890 021-51099828 fax 021-56190876

Built in 2004, this is by far the nicest hotel you will find in or around Gubeikou. Clean rooms, reasonable (but not cheap) prices, excellent food, friendly staff. The landscaping and decoration is beautiful. And it’s right next door to the entrance to the Wohushan Great Wall.

Default Gubeikou hotel

It looks like a very nice hotel. Your pictures are very good. Thanks for the information.

If I call them, will they speak English?

No, they won't. But I doubt that a reservation is necessary. It's a pretty big place and when I stayed there in September, which would seem to be likely to be a busy time, there were only a couple of other guests.

I should have mentioned in my first post that they do gladly accept foreign guests.

Bryan, you say the hotel is "not so cheap". What are the prices. The English part of the site does not give any price info.

I see the beds are traditional Chinese. So that means they are very hard. Is that correct?

Thanks
Berend

In 2008, the room price was ¥280.

The beds are what I would call firm. They have padding but they are not mattresses. I am American but I actually find them quite comfortable. If you have never slept on a kang before, you should try it.

Thanks. These prices are not too bad, so maybe I use this hotel as a base for GW walks in the area.

Last year I stayed in an apartment in Beijing. Also there the beds are very firm compared to western standards.

Anyone know if this place will likely be open in January? I have a friend visiting Beijing in Jan and he wants to do two days on the wall. I thought Gubeikou or Jinshanling would be good bets.

I would rather stay at a farmer's family home at Gubeikou cun. Cheap, friendly, just beneath the Bei Qi Great Wall and a unique experience.
