I'm not very satisfied with the metering of the D80 (not D90), and D300 is far more better and also seems to be better than the D90. I guess it all comes down to how much you are willing to pay, the quality you demand and how heavy load you are willing to carry. I would choose the D300 over the D90, but only because I already have the D80. |

It is always a quandry for me when travelling to China. What camera do you want to lug around for 2 weeks?
When I bring small format cameras I am always dissatisfied with the the quality and range of light issues but I never complain about carrying it. When I bring a medium format camera I like the pictures more but complain about the bulk. I have compromised on bulk, weight and cost for moderate quality. I use a FUJI S5100. It has a big enough lens to do the job and shoots up to 4 meg pictures. If I frame something on the wall I might want more but most of the time this camera is enough to take on the task. And again...It's lightweight. Ahhhh... That being said I will evenually buy a Nikon D series or Cannon next time around. 25 -85 mm lens should do it for range. |

Being a fan of ultralight hiking, I have found a very intriguing camera, the Lumix DMC-ZS7 (or DMC-TZ10 outside the USA). Here are some of the basics:
