Very nice pictures from Bryan and PWCCA
![]() I'm not sure how it is in Beijing, but in Hebei these kind of bricks seems to be located in limited areas. Most bricks have no inscriptions but within a short section there might be a lot of them

I have only seen them in Miyun, never in Huairou or Yanqing. And as you said, only concentrated in specific areas.

Ancient and modern inscribed bricks coexisted in restored wall at Dongluochengguan in Heibei east.
New inscribed brick(black) with "Manufacture under Shanhaiguan cultural relics bureau supervision in year 2005 " words.Chinese characters as “贰零零伍年山海关文物局监制”, others (Yellow) were made in Ming dynasty .
