Nice photo of the west side of Simatai. No people at all in your photo.

![]() Both at the entry (40°13'12.15"N 119°32'50.82"E) and the exit (40°13'38.90"N 119°33'9.14"E) it's a steep climb to get up/down and it seems difficult to continue in either end, but I think this is probably the best trek at Banchangyu. I would like to go back one day and try to trek south towards Yiyuankou, that seems to be possible and should be very nice. One of the locals told my wife that the local government have some plans to repair the wall at Banchangyu. I really hope they don't succeed with their plans and make a new Badaling. The Wall is already in fairly good condition at it would be sad to see it repaired. Apparently they don't like that the wall don't have any inside parapet, however I didn't see any evidence that there ever being a inside parapet. I will post some more images on my blog soon. That looks like a fantastic area. Do you have the GPS coordinates for your picture? I wonder if you and I will be passing this very spot together next year on our way from Shanhaiguan to Huangyaguan . . .
![]() Looking forward to more photos on your blog!
