Thank you very much Bryan, Chinook and the others who have helped with information and directions on my recent hike which was done on 10 Nov Tues....
It had snowed the week before and snowed again in Beijing city on 9 Nov. Our guide Bruce, a local , met us at Miyun and we stayed overnight at a farm family's house.... We started off the hike at Jinshanling the next morning with temperatures around -5C and a chilling wind. We were expecting a foggy day because of the snow in Beijing but arriving at the starting point of the hike, we were greeted by blue skies I highly recommend a walk during winter........ there were a grand total of 20-30 persons that we ran into all day long.... the Wall was literally empty most of the way and the feeling was magnificent..... we just felt like little ants on this huge empty structure Here are some pictures out of about 800 images from the day's hike....ha ha thats my ugly mug below.... a warm pipe came in handy to keep the hands toasty ![]() Our guide Bruce

This is my favorite so far. Very nice lighting in this photo. Totally justifies the "jin" in Jinshanling, even if that's not where the name really came from.

sorry for the few days' delay..... i was just too exhausted and resting up to do anything these last couple of days
OK here goes............ hope you dont mind if i mix it up with a few non-Wall images here and there.... I returned with 3000+ images ..... so editing them is a bit of a back-breaker ![]() ![]() ![]() In the meantime...... after the Wall hike, we spent a week up north in Jilin province and skirted the russian and North Korean border areas... really loved that place ![]() North Korea across the fence ![]() An old comarade on the wall ![]()
