It seems I didnt take many pics of that tower on the last visit, but I did get this of the inner part where there are now metal supports put up

Oh, how awful.

I'm glad I saw it before this unneeded work was done. Same for Huanghuacheng.

Unfortunately I never saw Huanghuacheng before the restoration... though I did thoroughly enjoy that wall anyway... I can only imagine the beauty of it before it was done

ouch.. this repare was really un-necesarry
In Easter it was not repared yet.

I hope they did not "upgraded" all Jinshanling-Simatai part that way.. (going to check that soon..)

Okay... fill in the newby here. When you say the work is sloppy is it inaccurate, as in "not authentic to the period of the design" or is the craftmanship poor? I see the brick and stone colors that don't match and this is not good but is there something else that I am missing?

Sorry for the question but I have to ask. Ignorance is bliss...

Thanks for the clarification. In person I would guess it is even much worse. I suspect the color of the bricks will never match even with weather.
