In China, Unistrong Garmin GPS receivers can be purchased at Sanfo Outdoor.

The map works on a non-Unistrong GPS, the locations are accurate, but the fonts do not display correctly. I hope to resolve this problem in the future. I am also interested in the English / Pinyin version. This screen shot shows the same location as your last one. It also shows some topographic information that isn't showing on your eTrex for some reason.

That's a great map. My best investment in China so far!

Garmin Germany inforemd me that neither devices bought in the US or in Europe can be changed to Chinese as the interface language. That means that we have to buy the device in China (or wherever in Asia) to be able to use the Chinese maps. My interest is decreasing ...

A friend in China has sent it to me (China City Navigator v7.5 NT), but I can't get it to work. He is sending me another that he said is more detailed. I'm waiting for that before making any decision.

I consider to buy that for the Dakota, but I doubt that it will be very useful for the hike in September.

Why do you doubt it ... and what do you think would be useful? A topo map? A terrain map like this one??

Because there is almost no information about the terrain at all and some of the smallest roads we have to follow close to the wall will not be on the map. It will probably only be useful in case we have to makes some larger detours - on the wall I consider it completely useless.
