The pass in here was recorded in GW bible as 秋科峪 qīu kē yù rather than Ganchayu甘查峪 , there are two village behind the pass ，Qiukeyucun locates 0.7KM south of Ganchayucun . Although Ganchayucun is more close pass than Qiukeyucun , it might be set up later .

As for the English name of Qiukeyu , i don't have any ideal yet .

Any information in the bible regarding the names for the all the passes? Are the names all based on historical records or are some of the names bases on best fit?

The names I have written is based on Tangshan maps without all the small villages. For travel purpose I believe this is the best way to name the pass since no one knows the historical names anyway when you get to the countryside and less famous GW sections - at least non of the locals and the road signs might not show the way the the villages the GW pass was named after.

I agreed your point of view on touring purpose , but i still use Qiukeyuguan in Chinese GW map , after all most people start learning GW from GW bible.

You should consider translating the Great Wall Bible into English. I think a lot of people would be interested in it.

I understand, but how are the sections in the GW bible named?

According to historical records, according to whatever villages is nearest or both?

It took me a lot of time to work GW map in Chinese already , i really don't spare time to do translate that book .
I don't think GW bible is hard to read , it is just status report of towers , the places GW go through ,and year of pass built etc. few of information on fortress .

it is according nearest villages , valley , or river , all names book illustrated were names in 1985 .

I have asked my friend (Chinese) what the approximate English translation for the above and she say's - qiu ke yu, means "valley of the autumn" and for gan cha yu, it means "joyous walk valley". I'll let people more experienced than me in the language to say what might be a more correct interpretation.
