                          长城

                          Title: 长城 (Great Wall)
                          ISBN: 7-5347-3301-4
                          Publisher: DaXiang
                          Year of publishing: 2004
                          Text: Chinese
                          Price: 22 RMB (3.2 USD)
                          Pages: 128
                          Binding: paperback
                          Bought at: Wangfujing Bookstore, Beijing

A very nice little book with superb pictures. Unfortunately it's only in Chinese but the pictures alone is well worth it and the price is astonishing. The book also feature some small maps of selected areas, telephone numbers, opening hours and ticket prices.
It seems like an obvious choice for translating into English and publishing worldwide.

chinoook's 1st law: Structurally weak walls tend to have double structures.
chinoook's 2nd law: Newer walls are built next older walls, not over them.
chinoook's 3rd law: Similar problems lead to similar solutions.

The most dangerous worldview is the worldview of people, who have not viewed the world. (Alexander von Humboldt (1769-1859), German naturalist and explorer)

                              Hi chinoook,

That is a very interesting book which I have never seen or heard of before!

I moved your post to this thread and added the picture and the ASIN. I don't know if this was the right thread. Is it more of a history book than an informational book? Let me know if it needs to be moved again. Meanwhile I will try to get a copy myself!

I found several new books during my recent trip to China and I will be adding them soon...
