Yes, K is the hotels.

The road goes all the way to B but it's not open to normal traffic. The walk is maybe 15 minutes.

You should have a distance scale on Google Earth at the bottom left of the satellite image. On the View menu, make sure Scale Legend is checked.

before dawn, I assume that the cable car will not be running?

which route do you best use to get to A in the dark before sunrise? I was thinking of walking from J to B directly on foot.... then on to A

Yes, that is the route you'll want to take. The cable car won't be running.

May be I am the guy fit to you.
I am living in the Jinshanling Great Wall, I know the great wall of Gubeikou , Jinshanling and Simatai sections I can be your local guide and also can help you carrying something as well, and I can arrange you stay in my guest house. Cause you can not camping on the wall in winter here, it’s too cold. And the Jinshanling Hotel is closed from Nov. for fewer tourists.

Anyone with recommendations on affordable hotels in Beijing ?

I just have been Badaling Great Wall. I hope that one day I could jion in some groups and hike all of the China Great Wall sections.

I guess most of you had a nice a great great wall tour.
