Does anyone know if you ascend the wall east of the dam and keepg walking, what's the first spot you can conveniently descend? i.e. with a trail down the hill and a road (preferably a village) at the bottom.

I've walked this section, but turned back after a couple of hours and came down the same way I'd climbed up.

the first descend is right at the gate through the wall after roughly two kilometers at:

40°24'59.67"N 116°21'9.46"E

It is clearly visible on Google Earth. The road leads you to the next bigger road. Be aware of locals who want to charge you for passage.
