Default Hike before gate opening - Jinshanling to Simatai

Hi, I'm planning on hiking the standard Jinshanling to Simatai route. I'm hoping to do this very early this Monday morning. My plan is to get to Jinshanling Sunday evening, stay in a hotel, and hike the next day.

The problem is that I would like to start the hike around 5 am since the sunrise right now is around 4.30 am. I'd also avoid the afternoon heat and hopefully have a little more peacefulness on the wall (less people). Plus, it would be much better for photography. The only thing is, is it possible to enter at Jinshanling so early?

The best information that I could find was that the gate opens at 8 am. Is it possible to get in earlier, maybe by talking to the gate attendants/guards?

Apologies if this question has already been asked & answered.. I checked the website but couldn't find anything.

Thanks!

Hi,

we are about to walk the same section on Monday. Maybe we could do it together.
I can not give any reliable advice upon that but think there should be no problem at all.

You can pass through (or by) the gate at any time. There will be a girl sleeping in the ticket gate house. If she wakes up, she will want to see your ticket. If you're quiet then she may not wake up...

There are often older people at several points on the wall that will make you buy tickets if you dont already have one, we came across 4 different people on our evening stroll on jinshanling so be warned. They wont let you pass if you dont pay

Yesterday I walked from Gubeikou to Simatai. We didn't have to pay for the Jinshanling entry at all ;-) and were only charged at Simatai (the "Beijing" part) and for the bridge. No one bothered us with tickets until then and there was no problem at all.

Hello!

I am going this week end to the great wall. I am planning to do the Jinshangling Siltai section, to sleep the evening there and wake up early in the morning for the sun set.
How was your experience there? Where did you sleep? Was it easy to go through the gate in the morning?

Thanks a lot for all your advices
