Sorry, I don't have any experience with these buses. Taxi from Beijing to Mutianyu takes about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic and your starting point. From the Huairou bus station, the Mutianyu Great Wall is about 30 minutes away.

I'v taken Bus 916 thrice but i'v not experienced bus 936 yet.
It's a 90 mins journey from DongZhimen (beijing) to the end terminal in Huairong. there's two kind of bus 916 service, the regular kind and the express kind. try to take the express 916 instead (it's faster as it stops less often to pick up passengers along the way) both regular and express 916 are at the same bus booth in Dongzhimen....

I'm a bit confused about some people talking about two distinct bus stations. Do these buses leave from the bus station attached to the Dongzhimen metro stop or from somewhere else?
I do not have experience using these buses. Where do I actually buy the tickets from within the bus station? How far in advance can I buy the tickets? Is there a chance of these buses selling out of seats on a Saturday morning or should I not worry about that? It is my understanding that 936 goes straight to Mutainyu instead of stopping at Huairou. What is the advantage of taking 916? As was the question in this thread originally, I would like to hear how long 936 takes to get to Mutianyu if anybody knows. Thank you very much for any information you can provide. |
