Default Baiyangyu Western Part

Here's some photos from the western part of Baiyangyu. Please not that Google Earth is a bit off in this area so the position does not match Google Earth exactly.

Impressing location, even more impressive photos.
You will finally get me attracted to the rock&brick sections of the GW. I start thinking about a trip along ...

Default A few more pics

Here's a few more from the western part of Baiyangyu. GPS position is the place the picture was taken and not the location of the item shown.

View from Shenweilou tower, 40°12′14.72″N 118°43′02.87E

The Great Wall of China

The brick wall close to Shenweilou tower, 40°12′14.81″N 118°43′02.87″E. Most of the wall up to the tower was probably brick wall, but today only the inner stone part of the wall remains on most part except for a small section at the Shenweilou tower.

The Great Wall of China

A bit west of Shenweilou the wall change from brick to stone. The bricks in the foreground is not original since there are no mortar holding them together. 40°12′16.99″N 118°43′00.38″E

The Great Wall of China

This tower also seems to have an wooden beam interior. The stairs must be a later addition since this is the enemy side. 40°12′17.59″N 118°43′00.01″E

The Great Wall of China

Most of the wall here is just a thin line of white stones. 40°12′21.73″N 118°42′55.21″E

Not much is left, but still a beautiful sight. 40°12′25.84″N 118°42′39.23″E

I'm sure this is not original and it does not look original. The stairs was most likely added in recent years to help tourist enter the wall here. A small path leads down the valley from here indicating that this is indeed made for tourists. Furthermore it would make no sense at all to build stairs to make it easier for the enemy to climb onto the wall.
