Here is a view of the top watch tower seen from another tower on the top. More info on my blog next week.

Yes, Baiyangyu is still my favourite place

Those are some more really great shots! How was the climbing up there? It looks like it might have been difficult.

Default Climbing the Baiyangyu Great Wall

Yes, that was bit difficult and I surely wouldn't recommend it for beginners or people with less experience. The mountain itself is pretty steep as can be seen from this picture taken from the road on the way home:

The Great Wall of China

However what makes it very difficult is the way the wall was constructed in this area using the natural occurring rocks - hence the name "Marble Great Wall".

The Great Wall of China

It's very difficult to walk on these rocks especially on the way back down. However the view was great, and the "Marble Great Wall" continues on the next mountain - I really need to go there one day!

Behind the first watch tower there was another smaller watch tower, not like any of the other towers in this area.

Thumbs up Baiyangyu photos

Did anyone ever tell you that you're a gifted photographer? Some people could take thousands of photos and never achieve that kind of results.

I hope we will be covering that area and many more over the course of our East Hebei section hike next year . . . even if you do get there before that!

Thanks, I have a strange habit of seeing things in pictures everywhere I go, so I always think of what would be a good picture - maybe that's why it takes a long time for me to walk just a few kilometres on the Great Wall

The Great Wall of China

It should be possible to cover this area in our trek next year, but I would be happy to go there again to make some recon
I hope I'm not going to slow you down too much taking a lot of pictures
