Default Best Great Wall sites

Yes, that is the most popular, but which sites are the best and most interesting?

That is a much more subjective question. My favorites so far are Jinshanling first and Jiankou second. How about you?

Indeed, but it would be interesting to hear what the members think.

So far I think my top five list would be:
  1. Baiyangyu
  2. Banchangyu
  3. Liujiakou
  4. Dongjiakou
  5. Panjiakou/Xifengkou (not because of the wall, but because of the scenery)

But I'm sure Jinshanling will be on the list when I have visited the place.

Default Best sites on the Great Wall of China

I guess some of your sites will be on my list once I have visited them too!

Here are some of the things that I like about Jinshanling:
  • Tremendous variety of styles of construction and architecture
  • Fantastic mountain scenery
  • Limited and tasteful restoration with fully unrestored areas within easy reach in either direction
  • Not overcrowded, but not deserted, so facilities like a guest house, vendors, and restaurant are available
  • Easy walking distance to Gubeikou and Simatai
