First Pass Under Heaven by Nathan Gray

First Pass Under Heaven
by Nathan Gray

Nathan Gray offers a companion DVD to augment his book, First Pass Under Heaven. It's a very interesting and well-done DVD and I recommend it to anyone who is interested in hiking on the Great Wall.

This is the story written by Polly Greeks, who accompanied Nathan Gray for some 100 Miles along the Great Wall around Beijing. It gives some insight to the problems a Great-Wall-walker encounters and some insight in her relationship to Nathan. I am not sure whether he is happy about this book ...
Worth reading? Not if you expect some new issues about the Great Wall. I can recommend it for recreational reading. Don't expect to much and you will probably be amused and will get some impressions of the Great Wall.

Journey Along the Great Wall by Si Lai

Journey Along the Great Wall
by Si Lai

Si Lai was one of the earliest people to travel the length of the Great Wall, and probably the first one to write about the journey.

Unfortunately, the English-language book is out of print but if you can find a copy you are sure to enjoy it. It has good black-and-white and color photos and is full of interesting information.
